Day - 1

Delhi – Varanasi (Sarnath) | Distance: Flight (~800 km) or train (~865 km)

  • Early morning flight/train to Varanasi.

  • Transfer to Sarnath (10 km), where Buddha delivered his first sermon.

  • Visit: Dhamek Stupa, Mulagandha Kuti Vihar, Ashoka Pillar, and Sarnath Museum.

  • Attend evening Ganga Aarti at Varanasi Ghats.
    Overnight: Varanasi

Day - 2

Varanasi – Bodhgaya | Distance: 255 km / ~6 hours by road

  • Drive to Bodhgaya, where Buddha attained Enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree.

  • Visit: Mahabodhi Temple (UNESCO Site), Bodhi Tree, Vajrasana, Animesh Lochan Chaitya, Thai and Bhutanese Monasteries.
    Overnight: Bodhgaya

Day - 3

Bodhgaya – Nalanda – Rajgir – Patna | Bodhgaya → Nalanda (85 km) → Rajgir (15 km) → Patna (95 km) = Total 195 km

  • Depart for Nalanda, the ancient Buddhist university.

  • Visit: Nalanda Archaeological Complex and ruins.

  • Drive to Rajgir, site of Buddha’s sermons and Vulture’s Peak.

  • Visit: Vishwa Shanti Stupa via ropeway, Gridhakuta Hill, Ajatashatru Fort.

  • Continue to Patna, the capital of Bihar.
    Overnight: Patna

Day - 4

Patna – Vaishali – Kushinagar | Distance: Patna → Vaishali (55 km) → Kushinagar (240 km) = Total 295 km

  • Depart for Nalanda, the ancient Buddhist university.

  • Visit: Nalanda Archaeological Complex and ruins.

  • Drive to Rajgir, site of Buddha’s sermons and Vulture’s Peak.

  • Visit: Vishwa Shanti Stupa via ropeway, Gridhakuta Hill, Ajatashatru Fort.

  • Continue to Patna, the capital of Bihar.
    Overnight: Patna

Day - 5

Kushinagar – Lumbini (Optional, in Nepal) | Distance: 150 km / ~4 hours (requires border formalities)

  • Cross into Nepal to visit Lumbini, birthplace of Buddha.

  • Visit: Maya Devi Temple, Sacred Garden, Ashokan Pillar, and monastic zones.
    Overnight: Lumbini

  • Optional: If skipping Lumbini, proceed to Sravasti from Kushinagar (approx. 240 km).

Day - 6

Lumbini – Sravasti | Distance: 240 km / ~6 hours

  • Cross back into India.

  • Drive to Sravasti, where Buddha spent 24 monsoons in Jetavana Monastery.

  • Visit: Jetavana, Anathapindika’s Stupa, Angulimala’s Stupa, and Thai monastery.
    Overnight: Sravasti

Day - 7

Sravasti – Lucknow – Delhi | Distance: Sravasti → Lucknow (175 km), then flight/train to Delhi (~500 km)

  • Drive to Lucknow and board your return flight/train to Delhi.

  • Transfer to hotel or directly to the airport, depending on flight timing.
    Overnight: Delhi (optional, if late return)
